GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME! It’s that time again, a brand new edition of the Sound Ideas backstage blog! We’re now in to our second week of rehearsals and we thought it was about time we introduced you to some members of our fabulous cast!

We’ve decided to catch up with a hand full of our fabulous 20-strong cast and in this first instalment we’ll introduce you to the first 6. We hope you enjoy this little insight into the world of Singin’ in the Rain and can’t wait to see you at Norwich Playhouse this August 22nd-26th.

Team Sound Ideas



Chris was born and raised in Norwich and is delighted to be returning to Sound Ideas after playing Jack in our award-winning production of Into The Woods.

Training: Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.

Roles includes: Leo Bloom in The Producers; Ensemble in Half A Sixpence; Cop/Sonny in City of Angels (Mountview Academy); Leonard in Poppies (MusicBox Theatre); Jack in Into The Woods (Norwich Playhouse)

After graduating Chris has appeared in several shows in London and the rest of the UK. Now back in Norwich Chris is really excited to be back and joining the talented cast of Singin’ in the Rain.

Thomas Davies - r.f. simpson

Tom’s love for performing has been apparent for as long as he can remember. After finishing school he moved to New Zealand for a year before studying Theatre Arts.

Training: Middlesex University, BA Hons in Theatre Arts

Roles include: Fogg, Sweeney Todd (Shoe Factory Social Club); The Wolf, Into The Woods (Norwich Playhouse); Tiny Tom, Urinetown; Jackie Jackson, The Deep Blue Sea (The Maddermarket); Improv (The Miller Comedy Club); Dream Interpreter/Psychologist, Brazil (Secret Cinema); Oedipus, Oedipus (Simmonds Theatre); King Ubu, Ubu Roi (Simmonds Theatre); Romeo, Romeo and Juliet (The Cut).



Ashley-Kate has been living in Norwich for over twenty years and splits her time singing loudly at her desk or watching Disney movies!

Training: City College Norwich.

Roles include: Eliza Doolittle, My Fair Lady (Costessey High School); Widow Corney, Oliver! (Costessey High School); Kathy, 9 to 5 The Musical (Norwich Playhouse); Jack’s Mother, Into The Woods (Norwich Playhouse); Diva, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert (Open).

Recordings include: ‘What We Do’ and ‘Love You No More’ with Fenton Gee.

Ashley-Kate is made up to be returning to Sound Ideas in one of her favourite shows.

Nic Gordon - Cosmo Brown

Having moved to Norwich to study Illustration at NUA, Nic has loved working with a whole new group of talented people the local theatre community. He has enjoyed taking on too many shows to avoid actually doing coursework.

Roles include: Ensemble, Priscilla Queen of the Desert (Open); Herbert/ Historian/ Not-Dead Fred, Spamalot (Norwich Playhouse); Marius, Les Misérables School Edition (Derby Theatre); Mr Myers, Fame; Lurch, The Addams Family Musical; Angel, Rent; (St Benedict’s School); Ensemble, Top Hat; (Theatre Royal, Norwich); Ensemble, Hot Mikado, (Beccles Public Hall).

Nic is excited to be returning to Sound Ideas, in this one of his favourite musicals. Enjoy the show!

Jake Champion currently lives and works in Norwich as a Wine Advisor. This allows him to pay his rent and fuel his need for good wines. 

Training: De Montfort University Leicester.

Roles Include: Ensemble, Priscilla: Queen of the Desert; Beadle Bamford, Sweeney Todd; Mr McQueen, Urinetown (Sound Ideas); Paul, A Chorus Line; Ensemble, Godspell; Orsino, Twelfth Night (Westacre Theatre).

Jake is really happy to be returning to Sound Ideas for one of his favourite musicals and would like to thank his family for their support and for the constant nudging from friends.
